Seema Punia, a renowned Indian track and field athlete and three-time Asian Games medallist, has been suspended for 16 months by India's National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) after testing positive for a banned substance. The 42-year-old athlete, a four-time Olympian, has faced previous doping controversies, including the stripping of her gold medal at the 2000 World Junior Championships in Santiago, Chile, for testing positive for pseudoephedrine at the age of 17. Her latest violation further tarnishes her long and accomplished career, which includes a gold medal at the 2014 Asian Games and four medals at the Commonwealth Games. The NADA's updated offenders list, released on November 30, includes 12 minor athletes, highlighting the ongoing commitment to maintaining fair play in sports.
