A Shocking Move: The Packers' Bold Waiver Claim!
In a surprising turn of events, the Green Bay Packers have claimed cornerback Trevon Diggs off waivers from the Dallas Cowboys. This move has sent shockwaves through the NFL, leaving fans and analysts alike scratching their heads.
But here's where it gets controversial...
Diggs' release from the Cowboys was attributed to a "culmination of multiple factors" by coach Brian Schottenheimer. Performance and off-field concerns were cited, leaving many to wonder about the true reasons behind this unexpected departure.
The Packers, however, are taking a chance on Diggs, offering him a base salary of $472,000 for Week 18, with an additional $58,823 if he suits up this week. It's a risky move, as Diggs has no guaranteed money beyond this season.
Diggs' stats this season don't exactly inspire confidence. In eight games, he managed just 27 tackles, one tackle for loss, and two pressures, with no pass breakups or interceptions to his name.
And this is the part most people miss...
Diggs' career has been a tale of two halves. In 2021, he made first-team All-Pro, leading the league with an impressive 11 interceptions, 142 yards, and two touchdowns. He followed that up with a second Pro Bowl selection in 2022, intercepting three passes. However, since then, his interception numbers have dropped significantly, with only three picks in the last three seasons combined.
Despite these recent struggles, Diggs will be reunited with his best friend, edge rusher Micah Parsons, in Green Bay. Unfortunately, Parsons is currently recovering from season-ending ACL surgery.
So, is this a smart move by the Packers, or a desperate attempt to find a spark? Will Diggs be able to regain his All-Pro form, or has his decline already begun?
