The British Geological Survey (BGS) has reported that a 3.3-magnitude earthquake struck the north-west of England. This event occurred in Silverdale, Lancashire, during the late hours of the night, specifically at 11:23 PM on Wednesday, December 3rd. The quake's epicenter was located off the coast, at a depth of 3km (1.86 miles).
The effects of the earthquake were widely felt, extending across the South Lakes and Lancashire. Residents within a 20km radius of the epicenter, including those in Kendal and Ulverston in neighboring Cumbria, reported experiencing the tremor.
But here's where it gets interesting: the BGS also revealed that this recent event is just one of many. Since November 28th, the UK has experienced at least 13 recorded earthquakes.
