In a concerning turn of events, Chelsea FC is now facing new injury worries ahead of their clash with Arsenal, particularly regarding players Cole Palmer, Reece James, and Liam Delap. All three were sidelined from the squad during Saturday’s FA Cup victory against Charlton, which was attributed to precautionary measures.
Chelsea’s head coach, Liam Rosenior, shared that the final decision about their participation in the upcoming match would be made late, following consultations with the club’s medical staff on Tuesday. As of now, none of these players have been cleared to play.
Rosenior expressed his disappointment during an interview with Sky Sports, stating, "We have been really unfortunate. Reece took a knock on his hip, so he wasn’t quite ready for this one. Palmer should be available for Saturday, but just not tonight. Gusto will hopefully be ready for Brentford at the weekend.”
Additionally, Liam Delap and Jamie Gittens were also missing from the squad due to illness, further complicating the team's lineup.
In light of these absences, Chelsea fielded a rather experimental team, featuring regular starters such as Robert Sanchez, Trevoh Chalobah, Pedro Neto, and Enzo Fernandez, alongside rotation players like Estevao, Josh Acheampong, and striker Marc Guiu. Notably, Guiu earned praise for his goal-scoring performance in the match against Charlton, marking Rosenior's debut as head coach and showcasing the potential of the club's younger talent.
